About the game

"Radion Heist" is an online multiplayer parkour game set in a dystopian cyberpunk city whose power supply is provided by a newly discovered energy resource known as "Radion".

Players take the role of thieves who have stolen a "Radion" battery and must now escape with the battery while evading the security drones chasing after them. The objective of the game is to deliver the Radion to the designated escape point on the map while parkouring across rooftops and working together as a team.

Players can host or join lobbies to connect to each other via Local Area Network (LAN) or through Steam's servers. The game was made in Unreal Engine 4 and utilizes Unreal's Online Subsystem feature to connect to Steam.

My role in the development of the game

The game was developed by a 4-man team which consists of 1 designer, 2 programmers (myself included) and 1 artist and was completed in under a period of 7 months.

My primary role in the team was as the lead programmer and the network programmer but I also provided major contributions to the games design, (specifically for game mechanics).

As the lead programmer, I gained significant experience in handling and managing my teammates as well as regularly planning and maintaining the work schedule for the games development.

As the network programmer, I learnt how games with online functionality were designed and structured. While I was focused more on the front-end programming of networking, I also managed to learn the basics of back-end networking such as setting up online servers, configuring the network settings for the game and how NAT-punching works.
